Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot doesn’t believe that annual instalments in the Assassin’s Creed series are diluting the brand. Speaking to MCV, he went on to say that this year’s new Assassin’s Creed will be the biggest game in the series so far.
“Assassin’s Creed is an incredible franchise and there are a lot of expectations that it will continue to grow. We are pleased with our continued success so far…….In the US, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations was a Top Ten title for the entire calendar year, which shows that the demand is definitely there.”
This year’s Assassin’s Creed game (expected in November) is reported to introduce a new lead protagonist, amongst other characters. Revelations saw an end to the Ezio trilogy of games, which began back in 2009 with Assassin’s Creed 2.
“We think that delivering regular instalments and expanding the brand to other platforms will continue to satisfy the demand, while at the same time attracting new fans. And we’re confident that the next instalment of Assassin’s Creed will be the biggest to date.”

It seems this is the thinking that will ultimately lead to the more hardcore fans distancing themselves from the series. Bringing in new fans and new members to a growing community is nice but to annual deliver a product that for the last two seemed a bit rushed and diluted may not bring the desired results in my opinion in that gamers who were already in love with the series won’t have much to look forward to as it’s my opinion that one year simply isn’t enough time to sharpen let alone innovate an entirely new experience while remaining organic and continuing the same flow and continuity the series is famous for. Just my opinion though, could be dead wrong lol.
