Danger Close and EA announced yesterday that Medal of Honor: Warfighter will launch on October 23, 2012. The game will tell the personal story of U.S. Tier 1 Operator “Preacher,” as he returns home only to find his family torn apart from years of combat deployment, and his attempt to pick up the pieces and salvage what remains of his marriage, while dealing with a terrorist threat close to home.
Warfighter has been built using the Frostbite 2 engine, and will see players rescuing hostages in Abu Sayyaf’s Basilan, Phillipines stronghold to assaulting Al-Shabaab’s “Pirate Town” on the Somali Coast, while hunting down the global threat of PETN. Multiplayer is set to feature 12 different Tier 1 units from a variety of nations including the British SAS, Australian SASR, German KSK and Polish GROM.
Players that pre-order the Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition will unlock the U.S. Navy SEAL Tier 1 Sniper on day one of launch, supposedly saving the 40 or so hours required to unlock the unit normally. Debut trailer is below.
