Hey, it’s summer! It really is! I have a rather pink face to prove it too; remember to use that sun block guys. The other indicator of ‘barbeque season’ is Microsoft’s Summer of Arcade, the third one of its kind apparently. What you get is a month of premium Arcade games and a bit of a Microsoft shaped carrot to collect them all. Think of it like Pokemon, but a bit more expensive.

Starting from July the 21st you can download one game a week over a five week period, ending August the 18th (yep, that’s a total of five games). The games and their release dates are as follows:

July 21st – Limbo

July 28th – Hydro Thunder Hurricane

August 4th – Castlevania: Harmony of Despair

August 11th – Monday Night Combat

August 18th – Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light

Pricing for the Summer of Arcade games is yet to be announced, but I would expect to see a few 1200 pointers in that bunch. So, to the incentive bit – Microsoft are tempting you to prise open your electronic wallet with a reward scheme. If you buy three of the promotion titles’ you’ll receive a return of 400 Microsoft points, buy all five (moneybags) and you’ll receive a not insignificant 1200 points for your loyalty. To qualify for this offer you need to have purchased and downloaded your titles before the end of play on August the 31st.
