Announced today in a Microsoft press release, popular
online quiz show 1 vs 100 has been axed.The Xbox Live game show, based on the TV quiz game of the same name has
run for two seasons and at its peak captured over 114,000 gamers playing
simultaneously – setting a Guinness World Record for the highest number of
players in a game show.
“When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating
an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving
concept,” said Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios. “We’re
very proud of the ‘1 vs 100’ team and their accomplishments, and are excited to
apply what we’ve learned to future programming.”
What’s
in the pipeline is anyone’s guess; let’s just hope it’s not an Xbox Live
Version of Big Brother.
